Trust in Him

My son loves for me to tell this story; he was 5 years old and we had an appointment at the Texas Medical Center near the Houston Zoo. We had friends with us because after the appointment we were going to spend the day at the zoo. We were two moms from a small town and 4 young children, (moms know how stressful it can be going to a big metropolitan area with 1 baby, 2 toddlers and 1 five year old). We had to drive into the city and park in a parking garage.  After the appointment we were in the elevator heading back to the parking garage when I realized that I had no idea what level we had parked on (and this was before cell phones did anything other than make emergency phone calls, so no taking a picture of your parking spot).  I looked at my friend and asked “Do you know what level we parked on?”  She did not, but my 5 year old son piped up and said, “We parked on level 5 next to a Ford Explorer.” My friend and I both looked at each other and I thought, “Do I really trust a 5 year old to guide us?” I kind of figured that I didn’t really have anything other ideas, he was the only one with any clue where to start looking for the car.  We rode the elevator to level 5, got out and there was the car, right next to a Ford Explorer.  I reluctantly trusted a 5 year, but he was right!

I think sometimes we kind of treat God the same way, instead of trusting God we only follow His guidance and direction when we have no other options and He is our last resort.  We reluctantly trust Him when we know that He has never failed us. God should be our first resort and not our last.  He wants us to trust in Him and seek Him.  God will never steer us in the wrong direction, but we have to seek His wisdom.

Seek God's wisdom in your daily life starting today and trust Him!

Psalms 9:10

Those who know your name trust in you,
for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you.
